I have both an A6 Avant and an R8 coming in the next 3 months and I never even thought to ask Reply Like. Audi R8 - R8 Oil Change Instructions - I'm looking for step by step instructions on changing the oil in my R8. I'm sure these elusive instructions are in the service manuals which i'm also having a hard time locating.

Once topped off (total of 5L) start the engine with drain plug put on loosely and cycle through R/N/D, manual says 3 seconds each, DIY'ers do it for 30-40 seconds. I did it for 40 seconds. Put car in P, let it idle and remove drain plug and top off fluid.
Best way to do it. With the oil filter on top there is no reason to crawl about under the car to remove and replace a drain plug. Run the car to heat the oil to operating temperature. Loosen the oil filter to allow the plumbing to drain into the sump. Slide the vacuum tube down the dipstick tube and extract the oil. I use a Mity-Vac.
