Posted April 5, 2019. Glow plugs are part of the emissions system on modern diesels and used during DPF regen which is why they cause limp mode. As you say it only occurs under load and not frequently, it doesn't sound like glow plugs to me, sounds more like an air flow issue, EGR or MAF for example.

its a weird one, the car drives absolutely fine after the initial startup, with the old glow plugs in id start it and it would idle lumpy for 5 seconds at most with a small puff of smoke, now with these new plugs it idles bad for 20 secs with smoke accompanying it so id say the glow plugs deffo have some bearing on the problem, with the old plugs 1 was broken so that cylinder was probably the Bosch Double Iridium Spark Plug 96338.
