I have the 14 inch Ideapad 5 14ARE05. My touchpad is randomly working or not, but its behavior is always the same in one session. If it does not work I am getting strange i2c_designware controller timed out messages. Can anyone confirm the behavior and/or suggest a solution?
It sounds like the problem is with drivers, because you said the touchpad works only in BIOS (but at least it works). In my case this helped: Go to Device Manager. Find Keyboards -- open to see more. (I found there was an issue in one of the Keyboard Devices (!)) Click it with right mouse button. Click PROPERTIES. Click - Driver tab.
Open up the Lenovo support page- Scan the computer for model number- (ideapad 3-15IML05 Laptop - Type 81WR) was mine. Under that go to Drivers and Software- ( You can try to scan for it automatically but i had to go manually ) Touchpad driver is automatically identified by the operating system.
I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out. Here's the steps you can try. -Press Windows key + X. -Go to Device Manager. -Click Action and Scan for Hardware Changes. Check if the HID touchpad will appear. Expand the Human Interface Device or Mice and other pointing device and check.
