The thing is though that Dark Souls/Demon Souls was made from the beginning to have a multiplayer element involved. Aside from the co-op being an Easter Egg in DMC3, DMC has always been about single player, I'm sure they could put decent Co-op in DMC if they tried, but allot about DMC would need to be reworked for that co-op to be balanced.

It even has the “Must Style” Option from DmC: Devil May Cry. For those who don’t know, “Must Style” is a mode that enemies can only take damage if your style gauge is at "S” or Higher. However, this mod allows you to change it to be lower if you like. Hell, it even has a “Legit Multiplayer Mode"!!!
