Last time it happened to me the daily reset just as I completed the last event I needed. Was having bad luck that day in finding events in the required map areas too (took about 45min to find the ones I did find), so I was especially pissed when the reset happened. Did not help that it a ton of events started happening soon after as well.

Switch to alt with world completion and grab all pact supply scouting materials from the karma vendors. Check which week is most profitable to know when and where to consume them at once. Go to guild hall using guild panel and harvest nodes. Leave guild hall using guild panel to be brought back to previous map.
My money would be on the daily reset timer. Since there are many events some of them must overlap, so resetting the chests at daily reset allows players to change up their personal event schedules and still be able to get rewards from the events they choose to participate in.
I've been hearing people talking about bypassing Daily Reset with crafting for example. A friend of mine is crafting the Nevermore precursor, and as far as I know, it has one thing that has a daily cooldown, that resets at 02.00 UTC+2 when it's server reset.
